I usually have Bisquick (either the brand or my own homemade version) on hand in the pantry so I was happy to find a cookbook that uses it for everything from the usual biscuits and pancakes to oven-fried chicken, casseroles, pizzas, breads, and desserts.
This cookbook includes recipes that use Bisquick's new gluten-free version, as well as the original and Heart Smart versions. With the gluten-free Bisquick, those with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity can enjoy pizza crust, pancakes, chicken and dumplings, strawberry shortcake, and waffles, to name a few. Although the book doesn't specifically say so, I don't see why the different versions of Bisquick couldn't be substituted for each other in any of the recipes as desired. I did try the Impossibly Easy Cheeseburger Pie using the Heart Smart Bisquick (and low-fat cheese) instead of the original and it turned out well.
Featured in this cookbook are the recipes of the winners of the Better With Bisquick Recipe Contest, including the grand prize winning recipe: Double-Chocolate and Strawberry Pancakes. I haven't tried it yet but the photo makes me want to. Speaking of photos, they are included for just about every recipe in this cookbook, something I always appreciate.
I think this is a cookbook I will use often because of the ease of the recipes and the availability of the ingredients used.
I received a copy of this book for review from the publisher but the opinion of it is my own and was not solicited, nor was a positive review required. If I didn't like the book I'd say so.
