Karin Knight's remarkable book is not just for babies. Her sound nutritional advice and delicious recipes are for everyone of any age. One of the most important things she's done is to distinguish between true food allergies (relatively rare) and food intolerances, something that many parents need advice on. The 5 sections of "1,2,3, Cook for Me," provide parents with essential knowledge about a child's nutritional needs from birth to 24 months and beyond, which foods are okay and which to avoid depending on the child's age, the benefits of making homemade food for your baby, a month-by-month feeding guide, and a toddler's month-by-month guide with recipes the whole family can enjoy. I wish we had this book when our own two sons were born. Now, our grandchildren are benefiting from Mrs. Knight's wisdom.

Baby food has undergone a revolution. Supermarkets are stocking their shelves with expensive organic baby food, businesses specializing in home-delivered infant meals are cropping up across the country, and even chefs like Eric Ripert of the renowned Le Bernardin are offering gourmet children's meals in their restaurants. Clearly, parents have caught on to the notion that kids like good food, too, and the health concerns about the sugar, trans fats, and preservatives in processed foods are leading more and more parents to make their baby and toddler food at home.In 1-2-3 Cook for Me, parents will find hundreds of delicious, simple, and nutritious recipes for babies and young children, and the rest of the family! From Sweet Potato Fries to Blueberry Milkshakes to Green Eggs and Ham, you'll find recipes that children and adults will love.Best of all, the book is jam-packed with up-to-date nutritional information and facts about childhood obesity. It's never been easier,or more important, to feed your children well!

Meal by Meal: 365 Daily Meditations for Finding Balance Through Mindful Eating Review

I was familiar with the work of Donald Altman from his earlier 'Art of the Inner Meal' and was impressed how his writing has found a fresh and densely pragmatic new form. 'Meal by Meal' is a fluid read of inspiring quotes coupled with practical insights by the author. This book is extremely handsome, a beautifully laid out composition making this both useful and pleasurable to read. If you have the discipline to read a page at a time, you will find this helpful day by day. I personally had trouble putting it down and would read a month at a time... but the suggestions are valid and useful on a second slower read. Worthwhile investment for someone wishing to calm their compulsive behavior for a more reflective perspective.

I first heard of Kim Bensen on the Weight Watchers community message boards. She's marketed her own low calorie bagels and I was searching for her website for this information. I found much more than bagels. I've never met her in person, but I found that Kim is helpful and kind to those who email her. I found out about this book on her website and couldn't wait to read it...got it the first day it was avail and couldn't lay it down until I was finished.
Her book is brutally honest and I applaud her for speaking so frankly about her struggles with dieting and obesity. It's the kind of book that will inspire you to keeping going, or inspire you to get started on a life changing plan for eating if you're struggling or have given up.
At some points in the book I was in tears, and at others, laughing. Her story is heartbreaking but ends in a final triumph. Her favorite line seems to be "now it's your turn". She tries to inspire others to achieve the seemingly impossible. She lost 212 lbs, kept it off and is now a very successful Weight Watchers leader.
A VERY good book for anyone, but especially those of us who need to lose weight. I HIGHLY recommend it. Also, she includes recipes. A bonus to the book!
