The Easy GL Diet Handbook: Lose Weight with the Revolutionary Glycemic Load Program Review

Please be aware of the word "handbook". This "book" was small--about 5x7 size. In searching for a reference to assist me in recording in my food diary, I thought this would do so. The foods are listed in five columns--the "food", the "GI value", the "amount of food in grams containing 50 grams of carbohydrates", then "carbohydrate per 100 grams of food" and then the "GL" column--not "one apple" or "1/3 c of rice", etc. So it was not much help to me. Most text's that I have viewed so far have GI/GL information for a food serving but it is very limited but this booklet's listed servings were indescript and not adaptable to everyday life. The booklet itself was in great condition and it was promptly delivered.

Transitions Lifestyle System Easy-to-Use Glycemic Index Food Guide (Transitions Lifestyle Systems) Review

While this book did have many more listings than anything else I've found, it is very difficult to find what you are looking for. One simple alphabetical listing would have been much more helpful than the catagories and sub-catagories it has. Also note that this is a British publication, so many names are not familiar to Americans (an aubergine is an eggplant; a pulse is a pea, bean or lentil...)

The glycemic index (GI) is an important nutritional tool. By indicating how quickly a given food triggers a rise in blood sugar, the GI enables you to choose foods that can help you manage a variety of conditions and improve your overall health.

Written by leading nutritionist Dr. Shari Lieberman, this book was designed as an easy-to-use guide to the glycemic index. The book first answers commonly asked questions, ensuring that you understand the GI and know how to use it. It then provides the glycemic index and glycemic load of hundreds of foods and beverages, including raw foods, cooked foods, and many combination and prepared foods. Whether you are interested in controlling your glucose levels to manage your diabetes, lose weight, increase your heart health, or simply enhance your well-being, the Glycemic Index Food Guide is the best place to start.

My Boss bought me this book when I was diagnosed with Adult II Diabetes. This book is more precious to me than a raise! I love the way the author composed the book...humor, honesty, great recipes and tips. Highly recommended for any person who wants to live a healthy life style. I have lost 15 lbs and my husband has lost 20. We both want to lose 30 lbs each. If you follow the suggestions in the book you will lose the weight. No matter if it is 30, 50 or 100 lbs...the glycemic works. The book encouraged me to find a good cookbook for glycemic recipes and I found a great one here at Amazon.com.
You will feel better, sleep better and have more energy. The recommendation for "Emergen-C" found in the book is great. I found a box at Rite Aide and this is a great vitamin drink. It can also be found online. Talk about a pure energy boost! Wow...great stuff and pure vitamins.
LOVE this book. Buy it. You will not be sorry. My friends and coworkers are now reading the book and following the very simple suggestions. It is so easy! Not a drastic restrictive diet at all. Very simple. Highly recommend.
